#GTE California Classic: Sleepers

The GTE California Classic, held from May 17th to 19th in Corona, California, is a premier youth basketball tournament showcasing elite 15U to 17U boys’ teams. This event attracted top-tier talent from across the west, providing a competitive platform for young athletes to showcase their skills in front of coaches and scouts. The GTE California Classic is not just a display of exceptional basketball prowess but also a celebration of sportsmanship and dedication within the youth basketball community. The event featured several players flying under the radar. Here’s a look at some of the top Sleepers from the event.

Mason Zennedjian 6’1 PG From The Jump 2026

  • IG: masonzenn2026
  • GPA: 4.2

Zennedjian’s game isn’t very flashy, however he just continually made the right play. On a team of high academic overachievers, he was one of the highest academic over achievers at the event. The 4.0 + has a good frame, and managed to facilitate brilliantly throughout the weekend.

Joaquin Tovera 5’10 PG Iso Elite 2026

  • IG: Joaquintovera
  • GPA: 3.2

Got on the radar with his production. Every time I looked up the guard seemed to be finessing his way to a bucket. He was one of the best “feel” guys I saw during the weekend, as he managed to use good instincts and IQ, to finds holes in the defense, before using his skill to finish.

Sheeck Morris 6’6 CG Team AOSS (CA) 2025

Didn’t get much contact info on Sheeck, but got some great context. Rounding into form after an injury, the long lefty is a bit of a position less player, that is a difference maker with the ball in his hands. His positional size made him one of the more intriguing sleepers on the day.

Ayden Horn 6’4 SF Ourway 2025

IG: _aydenhorn_

Offers: Cal San Marcos

Ironically one of the top sleepers already holds an offer. The Cal San Marcos prospect, was a good slasher who showed the ability to get to the rim. He used a quick burst to get by and long arms to extend, allowing him to finish around the rim effectively.

Justin Herrera 5’8 PG Players Only Select

IG: certified.jay4real

GPA: 2.8

Herrera lit it up in the contest I watched. The 2026 guard played like a vet, scoring the ball on drives, while knocking down more than his share of open shots. The sleeper has a decent handle and competes with moxie.

Robin Evans 5’11 SG IE Rain 2027

I wasn’t able to capture a photo of Evans, but that’s because he was always in motion. The IE Rain guard, was all over the place, using a quick jump to compete on both backboards. The Pogo Stick athlete was one of the more aggressive Glass Cleaners I saw during the weekend.
