#GTE California Classic: 2024 and 25 Guards

The GTE California Classic, held from May 17th to 19th in Corona, California, is a premier youth basketball tournament showcasing elite 15U to 17U boys’ teams. This event attracted top-tier talent from across the west, providing a competitive platform for young athletes to showcase their skills in front of coaches and scouts. The GTE California Classic is not just a display of exceptional basketball prowess but also a celebration of sportsmanship and dedication within the youth basketball community. The event featured several impact upper class guards. Here’s a look at some of the top 2024 and 2025 guards from the event.

Nicolas Farwell 6’0 PG From The Jump 2024

  • IG: niccc.farwell
  • GPA: 4.4

The High Academic PG is headed to Bethel in Kansas. They’re getting a good one. Lefty slasher was one of the first productive players I saw during the event, putting relentless pressure on defenders with his ability to get into the lane and create.

Gerron Graham JR 6’2 PG Tuscon Spartans 2025

  • IG: gj.graham

The last time I saw GGJ, he was coming off a brutal defeat during the EIBC Finals. The kid showed the same heart this weekend that I saw in Phoenix. One of the best defenders, during the event, the Pitbull PG will run through a wall for you, and quite literally did on several plays.

Demetrius Gogicha 6’1 PG Team Aoss 2024

  • demeexx_
  • GPA: 3.4

Missed all of his previous season with an injury, the PG is rounding into form. Really liked his vision and ability to play off two feet. Baby TJ McConnell, did a good job of harassing ballhandlers and keeping his dribble alive, just long enough to throw teammates open.

David Wright 6’0 PG Players Only 2024

  • IG: David.4x

Wright played with terrific pace, using hesitation dribbles to throw opponents off, before bursting to the rim. His ability to beat the first, draw the second and deliver an on time, on target pass off the bounce was electrifying.

Jaden Gamez 6’3 PG Iso Elite Basketball

  • IG: jaden_gamez25
  • GPA: 4.0

Gamez is a smooth operator, who never seemed sped up. He did a tremendous job knocking down open shots, coming off screens as well as hitting some pull up threes. He was another High Academic prospect at the event, as he holds a 4.0 GPA.

Andrew Baiza 5’9 PG Players Only 2024

IG: andrew_ baiza

GPA: 3.4

Baiza isn’t going to wow anyone with his physical stature, but his play did all the talking. He showed a more than solid offensive game, knocking down open shots while finishing in transition. Here shown, wearing number 27 next to his backcourt mate Justin Herrera, Baiza was an efficient assassin, with a skill set that included shooting, passing and handling at an above average level.

Bruce Williams is the regional scout for 7outz and the Scholastic Basketball Report.
